WORKSHOP

Flying Postures

(Arm Balances + Inversions)

Led by Kim Combs

Description + Focus:

This workshop is focused on understanding the medicinal benefits and building a safe structure to inversions such as; backbends, shoulder stand, and head stand. We will focus on important steps used to get into the various arm balances such as; forearm balance, crow, twisted crow, and flying splits. We will review the foundational skills needed to access these postures safely, what concepts of physics are used in each, and what mind states are best to grow the shapes over time.

Timeline:

We will begin with a Vinyasa style yoga class to warm the body. We will review the understanding of the postures, demonstration and investigation of the various arm balances+inversions mentioned above, followed by a short floor practice to calm the body and mind, ending in savasana.
Q&A at the end if needed.
